Masterclass 2026
Once a year, Andrey Das and photographer Yann Delcambre lead an intensive two-day fire photography masterclass. A small group, a live fire performer, twelve hours of immersion — from camera settings to post-production. The 2026 edition is planned for October. The exact date is not yet confirmed. What is fire photography?
Fire photography is the art of capturing flames, sparks, silhouettes and motion in a controlled environment. It sits at the intersection of technical mastery and performance knowledge — understanding exposure, shutter speed and contrast is not enough. You also need to anticipate the flame, read the performer and work safely within the scene. A successful fire image is not a lucky shot. It is a staged, deliberate moment.
Your lead instructor — Yann Delcambre
Yann Delcambre has been documenting fire arts for years, working closely with street performers, circus companies and fire collectives across France and beyond. In 2022, one of his images reached second place at the International Photography Awards in the Event/Other category, with a special jury mention. He is a long-standing member of Burn Crew Concept and one of the few photographers in France who truly understands fire from the inside.
His teaching approach is rigorous, precise and adapted to each participant’s equipment and level. In 2026, he is releasing his first book dedicated entirely to fire photography — a milestone that confirms his position as the leading French voice in this discipline.

Andrey Das — performer and co-instructor
Andrey Das is a professional fire performer, maker of handmade fire props in France and founder of Burn Crew Concept. During the masterclass, he acts as the live link between the photographer and the flame — performing, directing movement and ensuring the safety of every session. His 22 years of practice guarantee a controlled, creative and technically sound environment for participants.
What the masterclass covers
The programme is structured across two days and approximately twelve hours of learning, based on the format established in the 2025 Lille edition.
Day 1 — morning and afternoon: technique
Theory, equipment analysis, settings adapted to each camera, supervised practice and Q&A. Each participant receives personalised guidance based on their own gear and level.
Day 1 — evening: live shooting
A guided shoot with a live fire performer in real conditions — model direction, movement anticipation, composition in motion.
Day 2 — morning: post-production
Lightroom workshop, image optimisation, building a coherent series, individual feedback on images taken the previous evening.
Who is this masterclass for?
This masterclass is open to photographers who already shoot in manual mode — enthusiasts and professionals alike. A DSLR or mirrorless camera capable of full manual control is required. Smartphones, instant cameras and film cameras are not suitable for this training. A laptop with Lightroom is recommended for the post-production session. If you are unsure whether your equipment qualifies, mention it in your enquiry.
